Approachable "Polski CallBook" searcher has a wide range of searching possibilities.
The main functional components are:
wildcards increasing searching possibilities - '*' (asterix) replaces any (even nothing) sequence of characters; while ' ? ' (question mark) means exactly one whichever character.
searching according to variuos fields' contents, apart of call sign - it's possible to search also according to individual (or club), QTH, grid square, woj., pow.,
- Possible listing of stations' calls according to category - for instance:. HAMs, SWLs, club stations etc.
Restriction - if the search engine returns data of more than 5 stations fitting the requirement, the list of incomplete data is shown (call sign, first name, family name or clubs name, QTH, grid square, woj., pow.).
Restriction is in a form of a question - the question is to be consisted at least of 3 characters and must contain at least 2 characters different to wildcard ( that means it has to be composed of at least 2 letters, or 2 numbers, or a letter and number).
Following is the exact searcher's help with examples for those who has some doubts or problems with question's creating adeqate to the requirements.
Generally, the search engine works in two manners:
Direct searching - fill the edit field with required text and click [Search!]. The whole Callbook database will be examined in searching for the required sentence. If the result of searching consists of more than 5 stations, the incompleted data will be shown.
Complexed searching - there are two possibilities: searching with question and direct searching according to category.
When searching with question is used, choose the field of searching the database and fill the edition field with searching text and click [Search!].
When direct searching according category is used, choose the category of interest (the list of categories is shown under the [Search!] button) and click [Search!]. The list of call signs of the required category will be listed.
As before, if the return result consists of more than 5 stations, the incompleted data will be shown.
Questions can be composed with wildcards, that widens the searching possibilities The only restrictions are: minimum number of characters of the question ( there is to be at least 3 characters) and number of character differ to wildcards (there is to be at least 2). It means, a question apart of wildcard must consists of minimum 2 letters, or 2 numbers, or a letter with a number. It's allowed to use a dash (-) instaed of a letter or a number that can be needed in woj. or pow. searching.
The size of character is of minor importance. A question can't include a space. All the text spaces will be deleted and will mean nothing for searching!
